Taking notes in class? Reading online news? Blogging? Word processing? It is important to know what main activities you plan on using your netbook for. It may or may not be the best machine for it. Video editing - no, managing emails - yes. - Where will I be using this?
Are you planning on using your netbook mainly at home? Maybe in the coffee shop or even the park? Or will it see the most use in class, at work, or on the subway. Determine the situation, low-light? Bright sunlight? Available wi-fi? Most netbooks are optimized for wi-fi, with varying screen visibility in daylight. Some netbooks come with Bluetooth, but most netbooks do not and customizable netbooks often have this as an option for an extra charge. - What else will I be carrying with this?
- How often will I actually use this?
- Am I okay with a smaller screen size and resolution?
- Will I be comfortable and capable typing on a smaller, compact keyboard?
- What extra features (add-ons and upgrades) do I need?
- What is my budget?
- Am I better off buying a regular laptop?
